Great post – I really respect and admire the decision to stay screen free. We were completely screen free for our sons first 15 months and currently (at 2 years) watch TV 2-5 times a week. I only use abc iview and have carefully chosen 4 shows that we always watch together as I’m mostly concerned about negative behaviours or habits that can be viewed and picked up on. This way, if anything comes up I’m not happy with, I’m always there to fast forward it.
Lovely blog post. Love the transparency and insight. We tried Bluey and Daniel Tiger and Cosmic Yoga with my girl when she was 2 and we were clearing out my mum’s house. I found she was staring blankly at the screen. She actually forgot to blink so her eyes were getting sore. It got to the point where I was saying “blink” every 3 seconds to help her remember. That’s when I drew a line in the sand and decided she would be screen free for as long as possible. The school we are sending her to doesn’t do devices until year 11. So thank goodness for that.
